Foraging Tour - July 20, 2017

Lori McCarthy has been picking wild edibles since a young child and has spent the recent years foraging for some of this city’s top restaurants. Walk with your guide through our woods and onto our beaches in search of the amazing bounty that our province has to offer. We will taste some of these edible and if we are lucky will find some to add to our meal.

Once we have finished our woods walk and beach forage. We will sit, breath the fresh air and appreciate the beauty in our surroundings while you are shown how to prepare some of our traditional foods; all the while telling you stories and traditions around the food of our province. Depending on the time of year, you can look forward to sampling Labrador arctic char, moose, mussels, cod or smoked mackerel. Always to be accompanied by traditional bread, buns and local berry preserves.

This is one of  Newfoundland and Labrador’s most treasured traditions: the boil-up. For those of you that have never heard the term before, it simply means a spot of lunch or tea cooked up over an fire. Feel free to walk about and take plenty of pictures or sit and relax while your guide gets the fire going to cook up a taste of wild Newfoundland and Labrador.
