Join Alley Blagdon in Crafting your pastry. Pastry is at the heart of comfort food. There’s more to a pie than its ingredients; it is about the loving care that goes into its creation. And of course we make the best ones here in Newfoundland and Labrador with the freshest of berries and fruit available! Understanding the basics of pastry and fillings will give you the confidence to take on your own projects at home. We will cover several styles of pastry, a short crust, a hot water crust for a british pork pie with local pork and a choux for those cream puffs, a family favorite. We will start at the beginning and work through them together, learning tricks and tips along the way. You will be crafting all these pastries yourself so roll up your sleves and be prepared to get into it 🙂 Once finished class we will sit with a cuppa tea and enjoy our creations. This class is a mix of hands-on and demonstration.

  • Class begins at 6:30 pm
  • Duration of the classes are between 3 and 4 hours.
  • All classes are $150 plus HST
  • If particular cuts of meat or products are unavailable at the time of class another product of Cod Sounds choosing will be substituted without notice. Please ask if there is something very particular you are coming to see demonstrated.
  •  Maximum of 10 people per class. This enables a hands-on and personal approach so you can get the most out of your learning experience.
  • Your purchase of a cooking class is non-refundable. If you are unable to make the class you have chosen you can use your purchase for any other class offered as long as space is available.
  • Due to the nature of the local products and fare we try to infuse into our classes very few dietary restrictions can be accommodated . Please keep this in mind when booking.
